LIFE STYLE
There's nothing more inviting than summer-fresh fruits, and
Osoyoos is the best place to get them! Osoyoos' composite
irrigation systems allows the greatest growing season in the
country.
The name Osoyoos (pronounced "O-sue-use") is an Indian word
meaning narrows of the lake. A city that embraces its natural
environment unlike any other in Canada. A city whose gorgeous,
brown and terracotta adobe architecture blends with the desert
landscape. A city that flourished first as a crossroads for
north-south, east-west trade, then as a fruit growing area
and, latterly, as an international holiday destination.
As
southernmost town in the Okanagan Valley, Osoyoos boasts the
driest climate in Canada, as it is actually the continuation
of the Sonara Desert extending from Mexico. A hot, dry climate
and mild winters offer an immense range of recreational
activities.
Themed in Tex-Mex, the town is a source for visitors
year-round, who come to enjoy the
water sports
of warm Lake Osoyoos, taste
fine wines and take a pleasing stroll through the downtown
shops.
